A Czech architectural gem.
The visual centrepiece of the sprawling Výstaviště Praha exhibition grounds, which is often used for exhibitions, concerts, and other cultural events, the 19th-century Industrial Palace is a brilliant architectural gem built by Bedřich Münzberger in 1891. The Art Nouveau façade commands attention with its glass and steel enforced structure, richly decorated with floral iron motifs as well as niches featuring emperors from the Austro-Hungarian empire.
As one of the first mounted steel structures in the Czech Republic, the Industrial Palace remains as an important landmark in the city of Prague, and has hosted several major events over the years, including numerous international trade fairs and exhibitions. Following the destruction of its left wing during a tragic fire in 2008, the left wing of the Industrial Palace is currently under reconstruction, to restore the historical building to its former glory.
