The mini Keukenhof (in spring).
Situated on the shores of the pristine, beautiful Lake Geneva, the Independence Park (Parc de I’Independence) features gorgeous lush green gardens and shaded walkways lined by more than 50 different exotic species of trees, with the oldest ones being chestnuts dating from the 18th-century. Named in commemoration of the end of Bernese rule in Vaud in 1898, the park remains as a popular hangout spot for locals today.
With beautiful panoramic views overlooking the lake as well as the majestic Swiss Alps, the Independence park is the perfect place to spend a relaxing, peaceful day with the family or friends, be it to have a picnic or for a leisurely stroll through the gorgeous park grounds. During the spring season (from early April to mid-May), the park comes alive with vibrant shades of colour from the more than 300 varieties of tulips that are planted within the park gardens. Daffodils and hyacinths dot the park landscape, creating a festive and joyous atmosphere befitting the lively tulip festival that takes place in the charming town of Morges during spring, comparable to the famous Keukenhof in the Netherlands.
