A popular place for sports since the early days, Hyde Park also pays host to many cultural events annually.

Hyde Park is the oldest park in Australia and has been a popular place for sport and recreation since the early days, where it was also home to Sydney’s first racecourse. Today it continues to be a great hang out spot for CBD workers during lunch break or for tourists who commonly gather to take photos and enjoy the iconic landscapes of the park, including the theme gardens and several water features.


In addition, the ANZAC Memorial, the pool of reflection and other monuments can be found on the south side of the park. Dip your toes into the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain for a refreshing experience or perhaps jump into the Serpentine Lido and the accompanying paddle pool suitable for both children and adults. There are also numerous cultural events hosted here throughout the year, such as the Sydney Festival, Anzac Day and the Food and Wine Fair, so be sure not to miss those out.

Tips Before You Go
The Serpentine Lido is closed during the summer. Therefore during that time, visitors can look forward to the fountain instead. Do also remember to check the museum’s calendar for the many exciting events that happen throughout the year!
