Hyde Park

Take a walk in Tampa’s most fashionable neighborhood.

Henry B. Plant, a railroad financier, built a bridge across the Hillsborough River at what is now known as the John F. Kennedy boulevard in the 1880s. This is where the neighborhood’s history begins. In 1882, the first house was built here by James Watrous, and within the blink of an eye, the neighborhood was bustling, with even a street car line to admire. The neighborhood is known to have the world’s longest sidewalk, and boasts an upscale shopping district with high-end luxury goods at various boutiques.

Of course, it’s not just there features that you can admire at Hyde Park. Aspiring architects, the houses along these streets are truly a delight to gaze at. A simple walk down the different avenues will reveal the neighborhood’s historic past, with its various architectural styles and impressive houses with well-manicured lawns and red-brick house walls. Wave hello to the locals, and stop by a cafe when your weary feet beg for respite. All in all, a trip to this neighborhood will be well-worth it!
