Be transported back to the ancient Joseon Dynasty at the majestic Hwaseong Fortress. Constructed from 1794 to 1796, this 18th century fortress valiantly protects and displays the vibrant history and culture of Korea through the intricate architecture of its beautiful structures.


To reach the end of the fortress, you must journey along the brick-wall roads stretching over 5.52 kilometres of land and built using Sookjae and Jeondol bricks. This formidable wall still holds the marks of its great military significance. The small, regular holes between the bricks, are just large enough to let an arrow through, and were used in the past to fire guns and arrows during battle. The vibrant structures of watchtowers and sentry posts accompany you along your hike, showcasing the beauty of traditional Korean architecture. A truly breathtaking view of the beautiful and serene Suwon skyline rewards you at the end of your journey, the perfect close to this historic visit.
