A mishmash of colours and an artist’s delight.
The colourful walls and irregular lines of the Hundertwasserhaus look almost precarious, but this marvelous work of architecture is anything but extraordinary. Designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, this building defies the traditional and “boring” architecture. It is whimsical and brightly-coloured, an imitation of nature’s own unpredictability and a delight to its occupants and observers alike.
When Hundertwasser completed his housing complex two years after it began, it was dismissed by architecture critics and as a defunct work that was of little worth. However, its irregularity attracted attention, and before long, it was the talk of the town, attracting visitors and potential residents alike. The terraces are landscaped with trees and ivy that pop out of the most unexpected places, and even a delightful red British telephone box, reminiscent of the olden days. Undeniably a photographer’s paradise, and an artist’s dream, gazing at this building is bound to be a delight. It’s time to whip out your cameras and start snapping!
