Former winery turned multi-purpose park.
Originally opened in 1916 as a winery during Japanese rule, the factory has since been restored and remodelled into Taipei’s primary creative arts centre in 2007. After being abandoned, this former winery was rediscovered in 1997 by artists and performance groups, who found the site to be the perfect venue for hosting performances. After pressure from these groups, the management was transferred to the Council for Cultural Affairs in 2003, and the rest is history. Today, the Huashan 1914 Creative Park hosts Taiwan’s most significant cultural activities. The remodelled warehouses now hold live music performances, and various shops —which sell locally-designed products can be found here. Chic restaurants, cafes and bars can also be found here, making this place a haven for youngsters.
