Step inside the ‘Pregnant Oyster’ and learn more about the cultures of the world.

Located in the Tiergarten park of Berlin, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, literally translated as the ‘House of the World's Cultures’, is an institution of great cultural importance. Berliners nicknamed the Haus der Kulturen der Welt as Die schwangere Auster (The pregnant Oyster) for its unique architecture. The building’s futuristic exterior even warranted it as the outdoor set for the science fiction action film Æon Flux.

As a national centre which champions the contemporary arts, especially from regions outside of Europe, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt offers a melting pot of cultures in varying art forms - art exhibitions, concerts, theatrical and dance performances. In addition, one can also enjoy film screenings and academic conferences on the Visual Arts as well. So, do keep an eye out for the latest cultural events in this interesting institution.
