Hon Mieu Island

Explore Vietnam’s wonderful outdoor aquarium, which houses over 40 species of fishes, crustaceans, and marine creatures!

Situated 5 kilometres southeast of Nha Trang, Hon Mieu Island can be reached via ferry ride from Cau Da dock, or via tour companies that offer a stopover at the island. Far more than a picturesque fishing village, Hon Mieu Island offers travellers an amazing experience at Vietnam’s only outdoor aquarium, Tri Nguyen Aquarium, where over 40 species of fishes, crustaceans, and other marine creatures are raised. Interestingly, the aquarium is designed in the shape of a ship, and visitors can climb to the top to enjoy beautiful views of the ocean horizon.

The aquarium is divided into 2 sections – an indoor lake and an outdoor lake. Both display an interesting collection of rare species and marine animals such as sharks, moray eels and giant lobsters. Visitors can also choose to explore Bai Soi, a rocky beach providing great opportunities for swimming and snorkelling to observe the wonderful coral ecosystem around the island. Either way, Hon Mieu Island is great for those seeking some R&R and a fun day in the sun.
