Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Pay respect to Hollywood’s immortals.

If you’re looking for something different to do this Halloween, why not head to Hollywood Forever Cemetery? It is here that you can find a cemetery like no other, one that pays tribute to the founders of Hollywood and shaped it to become what it is today. This is the final resting place for founders of renowned studios, writers, directors and artists of Hollywood, and a visit here is bound to be unforgettable. As you enter this park-like cemetery, with its verdant greenery and classical architecture, you might be at a loss. Who are a few of the famous that rest here?

Harry Chandler, whose real estate investments were instrumental in Los Angeles’ development, as well as Harrison Grey Otis, who was the editor and publisher of the LA Times for almost thirty years! Griffith J. Griffith, who left money behind to build the Griffith Observatory and Greek Theatre (do those sound familiar?) is buried here as well, although he is infamous for having shot his wife in the face. Cecil B. DeMille, who directed over 50 films, is honored here, along with Rudolph Valentino, a charismatic and beloved actor of silent films, who met an untimely end at 31. If you remember watching the Looney Tunes, then you know Mel Blanc, the man behind a lot of the voices behind the warner Brothers cartoon. “That’s all folks”, reads his tombstone. Sound familiar? No matter who you’re here to see, a trip to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery will be one that you will never forget.
