A charming yellow arch bridge across a canal.
Known as Hogeweideburg in Dutch, Hogeweide Bridge is a picturesque arch bridge for both pedestrians and vehicles. Crossing the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal that cuts through the city of Utrecht, Hogeweide Bridge provides scenic waterfront views of the largest canal within the metropolis. Make a scenic detour through the bridge for a gander at the gorgeous arched unibody of bright yellow stretching out above you, its vivid colour stark against the sky. Here, you should pause to admire the glistening canal of water and the tree-lined banks as they taper off in the distance. As Hogeweide Bridge runs alongside a train bridge for one of the three major train routes in Utrecht, you can also enjoy the view of the bridge from the comfort of a train cabin. This less-known alternative connects you between Utrecht and the city of Woerden, and even further out to the city of Den Haag. Be it in passing, or in inter-city travel, make sure to visit the little-known Hogeweide Bridge to get a view of the gorgeous city of Utrecht from a different perspective.
