Nestled between the Residenz and the Englischer Garten, the Hofgarten (Court Garden) is a garden in the heart of Munich, Germany. The Italian-style Renaissance garden was built by Maximilian I, Elector of Bavaria and was completed in 1617. Today, this garden which exudes much elegance is a sanctuary for both locals and tourists.
Admire the beauty of a pavilion built in 1615 by Heinrich Schön, the elder for the goddess Diana, and look out for the replica of a sculpture of Bavaria by Hubert Gerhard on the roof. Appreciate the many exquisite wall paintings depicting the history of Bavaria and delight yourself in the pretty fountains and lovely flowers. One could also spend a lovely day just relaxing, strolling and reveling in the live music of talented musicians who frequently busk here.
