Built in 1977, the Ho Chi Minh and the Fifth military zone museum in Da Nang transports visitors back into a tumultuous period of Vietnamese history – the Vietnamese War. The museum showcases a comprehensive display of artefacts and photographs depicting the horrors experienced by soldiers of the Fifth Military Division during the war. The museum also commemorates the highly beloved ‘Uncle Ho’, one of Vietnam’s most revered leaders, with a replica of his residence in Ho Chi Minh.


The outdoor area of the museum hosts a collection of aircrafts, tanks and other weapons dating from the French colonial period to the Vietnamese War, interesting exhibits to note include the A-37 Dragonfly light-attack aircraft, Cessna O-1 Bird Dog observation aircraft, and the M48 Patton gun tank. The indoor area of the museum displays the personal belongings and photographs taken by soldiers involved in the Vietnamese War, and details the interesting backgrounds of prominent soldiers who fought in the war, such as Phan Thi Mua. The museum is perfect for museum lovers and history buffs looking to expand their knowledge on local history and Vietnam’s struggle for independence since French colonial rule in the late 1880s.
