At HistoryMiami, you enter Miami’s past and discover how it has (and continues to) formed the Miami of today. History buffs, knock your socks off! The museum boasts the title of the largest history museum in all of Florida, and houses four permanent galleries, along with traveling exhibits.


From afar, this impressive 70,000-foot facility is hard to miss, with its iconic shape much like that of a house, and inviting arches. The facility houses more than a million historic images and an astounding collection of 30,000 three-dimensional artefacts. Among these are a 1920s trolley car, as well as glinting gold and silver that was recovered from 17th and 18th century shipwrecks. There’s even rafts that brought refugees to Miami! Whether you love history or not, you’re bound to find Miami’s history fascinating at the Tropical Dreams exhibit, with covers over 12 millennia of history, from the historic events like the Spanish Exploration period as well as World War II.
