Located in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was established in August 1955. Devoted to the documentation of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, a visit here will certainly be a real eye-opener. Witness the horror of the fateful day on August 6, 1945 when the Atomic bomb was dropped on the city. See the remnants of the burnt clothing, personal belongings and even hair of the victims in the Material Witness section. Head for the Damage by the Heat Rays section to discover what happens to wood, stone, glass and metal affected by atomic heat and visit the heart-wrenching Damage by Radiation section to discover the devastating effects of radiation.
