Hipodromo Argentino de Palermo

Who says you can’t enjoy horse racing in style?

If you’re feeling lucky, head down to the Hipodromo Argentino de Palermo. If you’re not—go anyway, but leave your wallet behind. It’s one of the most prominent horse racing venues in Argentina, boasting a 2,400 metre track among its other lavish installations. Even if you’re not into horse racing, the beautiful French-style architecture will entice you to stay a while. The exterior is a beautiful white-walled building that looks like an aristocratic villa more than anything else. But the real magic happens inside: besides the main track, there’s also a permanent shopping area, casino and numerous French restaurants that would satisfy the pickiest connoisseur. With 10 horse races happening every month, anticipation is usually at a fever pitch long before the horses even leave their stalls. And when a race is ongoing, you’ll probably be too caught up in the excitement of the moment to leave. So don’t miss this chance to visit the most happening place in Buenos Aires!

Tips Before You Go
If you’re eating at one of the restaurants, get a seat by the window so you can see the races. Otherwise, there is a nice seating area at the private club, but be prepared for a slightly steeper price and a dress code (collared shirt and long pants).
