High Park

The largest park within Toronto, Canada!

High Park is a municipal park situated in Toronto, Canada. Spanning over 160 hectares, it is the largest park entirely within the city. High Park comprises several recreational, cultural and educational facilities, playgrounds, gardens and even a zoo! One third of the park remains in its natural setting, with a rare oak savannah ecology. The park was first opened to public in 1876. The park’s main points of interest include the hillside gardens, the zoo, the Grenadier café, the amphitheater and the Colborne Lodge historical museum which was built in 1836 by John George Howard. It is located at the top of a hill overlooking Lake Ontario, offering visitors some very promising views. The High Park Nature Centre offers year-round outdoor and indoor programmes to learn about the flora and fauna within the park. It has wonderful programmes for both the old and young and certain volunteering activities to preserve the species within the park (a good chance for your little ones to learn about the significance of conservation!). As for the zoo, drop by to see species like the American bison, capybaras, yaks and wallabies - it is open all year round and offers your children opportunities to get up close to feed the animals too!
