In the town of Reine in the Lofoten islands, take a small ferry towards Vindstad that typically leaves in the morning. Most people on that ferry will be headed to Bunes Beach but you will be able to see the Helvetestinden summit on the way, which you will certainly want to visit. Once at the dock, you can follow the trail to the right through the village. At the end of the fjord, you will see a path that either goes up over the rounded ridge towards the beach or another that goes up the steep mountain – at that juncture, just continue to keep to the right.

While there may be some trail searching at the start of your hike, do not be disheartened as you will soon find a well-worn trail that will lead you the rest of the way to the top. Just follow this trail up to the ridge line and amazing views of the surrounding fjords await you! Once you are on the ridge, head left and that is where you can continue your journey towards the summit. There are plenty of spots to enjoy the views along the way, but nothing quite compares to the unparalleled views of Bunes Beach down below once you have reached the very peak. As you inhale a deep breath of fresh air and take in all that Helvetestinden has to offer, it will certainly be a moment to remember!
