Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden

A dazzling beauty, abundant in plant and animal life.

Sometimes called a “Garden in a Valley on the Ocean”, these 40 acres of the non-profit botanical garden are truly a magnificent sight. Water views abound, and plants take root in fertile volcanic soil as creatures dart about in the verdant greenery. The sight is so awe-inspiring that visitors of all kinds flock here, whether to examine the plant species with a scientific eye, or to capture awe-inspiring panoramas of the beauty they behold.

With an area so massive, where to begin? Why not enjoy a stroll along the 500-foot boardwalk? Gaze at the Kahalii Ravine, with its impressive growth of giant bamboo, banana and even orchids! Of course, with over 2000 species of tropical plants, there’s just so much to see. If you’re keen to discover the impressive varieties of palm in the Palm Jungle, continue on your way, or if you’re here to catch the gushing waters of Onomea Waterfall, don’t hold back! When your weary feet ache in protest, settle by the Onomea Stream and artists might feel the itch to whip out a handy sketchbook and take in the sight. As you get back on your feet, brightly coloured flora will surely catch your attention. Regardless of what you do here, this one-of-a-kind garden promises to delight all!
