Happy Valley Racecourse (跑馬地馬場)

Catch some horseracing entertainment right here!

Horse racing seems to be Hong Kong's favourite pastime, as evinced by the electric atmosphere at the Happy Valley Racecourse during the weekly races which take place every Wednesday evening. Besides being the more popular race course as compared to the Sha Tin Racecourse (which is Hong Kong's other race course), it is also much older. Built in 1845, a whopping 55,000 spectators can be seated in its stands, which measure up to seven storeys. The inner field can also be used for a multitude of sports as well, having played host to football matches, as well as hockey and rugby ones.

The race course is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, regardless of whether you're a horse racing fan or not. It even comes equipped with a café for people to just relax and enjoy a meal before or after the races. If you feel hungry during the race however, don't worry! The café even comes with an 80-inch LED screen so that diners won't have to miss out on any of the action that's going on down at the tracks. With a passionate crowd and tons of action going on, this sounds like the perfect place to visit on a Wednesday evening instead of simply lounging in your hotel room.

Tips Before You Go
Getting into the racecourse is really cheap, and you don\'t even have to place any bets either just to get in and spectate. But try to leave before the last few races if you want to get back to your hotel room though, because your chances of finding any cabs, or even any other form of transportation, becomes a lot slimmer.
