Haight Street

See the birthplace of the hippie counter-culture that has spread its wings around the world.

Known as the cradle of the hippie movement, Haight Street, which lies in the district of San Francisco, was a haven for some high profile psychedelic rock performers such as Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead. See the lovely Victorian homes in vibrant hues and do not miss the pair of mannequin’s legs, with stockings and high heels on, sticking out of the façade of Haight-Ashbury’s shops. Look out for an interesting hotel – the Red Victorian, which is a themed hotel and a popular attraction. A great street for a relaxing stroll or simply to soak in the legendary, hippie atmosphere, where drugs, music and counterculture ideals rule the day.
