A world of royalty and imperial architecture awaits at the grand Gyeongbokgung Palace! Built in 1395, the palace is the largest of the Korea’s Five Grand Palaces and served as the main royal palace during the Joseon dynasty. With its mix of traditional Chinese and Korean architecture, this breathtaking palace will bring you back in time to the prosperous Joseon era.


The striking Gwanghwamun Gate first greets you at the entrance, and ushers you into the traditional, perfectly preserved palace grounds. Bask in the rich history and imperial architecture of structures such as Guenjeongjeon Hall, the largest and main throne hall of the palace, or visit the living quarters of the king at Gangnyeongjeon Hall to experience life as a king. To end off, take a scenic stroll along Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, which overlooks the peaceful river coupled with a beautiful stretch of trees, and reconnect with nature for a break from Seoul’s modern, cosmopolitan culture.

Tips Before You Go
To get a fuller experience of the culture there, visitors can also rent traditional Hanboks for photo taking at the palace or witness the “Changing of guard re-enactment” performance that takes place at 11am, 1pm and 3.30pm!
