Gucheng Park (古城公园)

A peaceful sanctuary to calm your soul in the heart of bustling Shanghai.

A quiet spot to rest, Gucheng Park is situated near the Bund, looking over Pudong. Compared to its more famous counterpart nearby, Yuyuan Garden, entrance is free here. Soak in the tranquillity at the bamboo garden, inspired by the one in Kyoto. Relax by watching the little ones catch goldfishes in the pond or feed the many cats roaming around. Take caution not to step on the grass, or you will be greeted by the guards' loud shrill whistles. On weekends, amuse yourself by looking out for the ‘Russian Dancers', who are actually elderly Chinese men and women donned in World War II Soviet Troops' attire, dancing in the sun.
