Groninger Museum

Postmodernists, this museum will certainly be your haven!

The Groninger Museum is hard to miss, with its bold design of striking forms and colours. Three pavilions sit grouped around the unmistakable yellowish-golden tower, housing the museum’s diverse collections. These collections have four main themes, covering the history of Groningen, applied art, contemporary art and old art.

The impressive collections include works by De Ploeg and neo-impressionist paintings from the 1980s. The contemporary art collections range from visual art to fashion and design. You can even find the world-renowned Chinese and Japanese porcelain collection inside. The interior of the museum itself is a work of art, with its bold and alluring colours, and the unconventional chairs that visitors can make themselves comfortable in. You can be sure that whenever you drop by, the museum will be hosting a wide variety of exhibitions, whether local or international, most of them of modern and abstract nature.
