Rejuvenated, it’s time to walk and appreciate the park, beyond the tamed things of nature, that embodies the finesse and ambitions of the men of Yunnan from the 1600s who decided that a public park should be erected in the center of the city of Kunming. Deliberately, the men who founded Green Lake Park sought to bring high society to the masses, and till today, the very same pagodas built then still tower in timeless resplendence amidst the flourish of nature are pagodas, bearing all the design trappings of decadent, florid traditional Chinese architecture style of an age when emperors still reigned supreme. In the serenity of the park, time who is said to never wait for any man, reveals a more patient side, and marches just a little slower for the beauty of life and a history born of a rare practised social kindness.
