Golden Canyon, Death Valley

Be spellbound by the magical works of Mother Nature.

The Golden Canyon is one of the most highly sought-after landscapes at Death Valley National Park, which is known for its breathtaking sceneries. Being a popular photo spot, be prepared to be mesmerised by the unbelievable hues of the sedimentary rock formations as its colours change according to light. Remember to stop by Zabriskie Point - one of the loveliest vantage points for sightseers, and you should also catch the mind-blowing sunsets here, which paints the canyon in the most glorious gold, making it true to its name: the Golden Canyon.

One of the most popular hiking trails here is the Golden Canyon Trail, as it is highly accessible to most and considered to be a relatively short hike. The 3-mile-long trail begins at Badwater Road and leads you through landscapes so astounding that even some scenes in Star Wars were shot here. Gaze at the golden sediments which were deposited at the bottom of Lake Manly about 5 million years ago. The trail culminates in the looming view of a massive reddish colored cliff called the Red Cathedral. For hikers who are up for a more challenging experience, extend your hike to Zabriskie Point, where there are steeper trails and several drops along the way. If possible, do plan your visit in spring where the valley wears a beautiful coat of the prettiest blossoms or camp overnight and lose yourself while stargazing at the diamonds sparkling in the incredible night sky.
