Gold Museum

A dazzling glimpse into pre-Hispanic metallurgy.

Be dazzled by the bedazzling array of gold artefacts (the largest in the world!), and discover an extensive collection of pre-Hispanic metallurgy that provides visitors with fascinating insight into the cultures of indigenous communities (eg. the Quimbaya culture) before the Spanish inquisition at the Gold Museum.

With a wide assortment of gold pieces on display, including breastplates, masks, brooches, bracelets, and necklaces, and intriguingly, the famous Muisca golden raft believed to have been the basis for the El Dorado myth, it’s no wonder the Gold Museum is one of Colombia’s touristic highlights, and continues to resonate with many as the symbol of Colombia’s rich culture. Perfect for culture vultures and history buffs, the museum is not to be missed when you’re in the vibrant city of Bogota!
