Goa Rang Reng Waterfall

Take a splash in nature’s pool.

A recent addition to the tourism scene, this gorgeous waterfall is quickly catching up with the other two waterfalls in the region, Tegenungan and Kantolampo. What makes this waterfall special is its gentle slope, which makes the water cascade in a mellow flow down the rocks rather than thunder down menacingly. This means that the pool at the base of the waterfall makes a lovely swimming area, where people can enjoy the mild clamour of the water in their ears and the peaceful surroundings of nature. The dark rocks are covered in smatterings of green moss, breaking up the clarity of the water to create an interesting pattern.

The sacred Goa Rang Reng cave is hidden a little ways up a slope to the left of the waterfall. However, since it is a religious place of worship, people are not allowed to enter the caves - but this only adds to the enchanting and mysterious atmosphere of the falls. Locals also use the place for Melukat, a Hindu cleansing ritual. Teak trees hang above the waterfall, creating a canopy of green through which the bright sunshine filters down. Bathe in the water and clamber over the rocks in a hidden spot that feels like your own secret hideout.

Tips Before You Go
Rent a rubber tire and float in the water while soaking in the wildlife all around you.
There are also springs filled with holy water near the cave entrance that might be worth visiting for those who are interested. Be careful as you climb the waterfall as the moss can make it quite slimy.
