The power of time has never been more evident than when you gaze upon these bizarre potholes in the ground, moulded during the course of the ice age completely by nature’s hand. Glacier’s have created some of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders, and these potholes offer a glimpse into the incredible way they shape the Earth beneath our feet. Although from the amazing symmetry and even surfaces, you would never guess that these potholes weren’t man-made. The fossilized mussels and plant leaves preserved for all eternity in the rock strata also reveal a surprising fact about the history of Lucerne - that it was once a subtropical beach! Hard to imagine for those visiting in the chilly temperatures when Winter swings around.

Inside the museum is the Million Year Show - the oldest model of a mountain relief in the entire world, hailing from the 18th century. Here, you can also learn about the geological wonders of our planet and the ever changing environment. An absolute must try is the mirror maze inspired by the Spanish Alhambra Palace, which is an interactive optical illusion where 90 mirrors transform short corridors into never ending passageways. People of all ages will be hard put to keep a smile off their faces as they watch their friends and family walk straight into the mirrors in this bamboozling labyrinth!
