Giudecca Island

For tranquil atmospheres and beautiful churches.

The largest and closest island to Venice, Giudecca is also known as Spina Longa due to its fishbone-like shape. Today, it is mainly a peaceful residential area dotted with lavish apartments. It is also known for its long dock and churches. Visit the parish Church of Sant’Eufemia to see its well-preserved cabin structure made in a typical Veneto-Byzantine style. The highlights are the magnificent stuccos, and 18th-century paintings by B. Vivarini and G.B. Canal displayed on the aisle and walls of the church’s interior. Appreciate the beautiful paintings of Madonna with Child and Angels by Alvise Vivarini and the 'Baptism of Christ' by Paolo Veronese at the Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore (Church of the Most Holy Redeemer). Relax and watch the sunset over Venice at Molino Stucky’s café, a huge flour mill converted into a luxurious hotel.
