Looking for your theatre fix at New York’s Broadway? Well, look no further than the Gershwin Theatre - Broadway’s largest, with a seating capacity of 1,933. Opened in 1972, it was named after brothers George Gershwin (1898 – 1937), a composer, and Ira Gershwin (1896 – 1983), a lyricist. Home to many award-winning productions like Porgy and Bess (1976), The King and I (1977), and Showboat (1983), the theatre also houses the American Theatre Hall of Fame to honor the achievements of individuals in American theatre. Concerts by legendary musicians were also performed here from 1974 – 1976, which included Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby, amongst others.
