George Washington Bridge

Admire the view overlooking the Hudson River while walking across the George Washington Bridge.

Seen in movies like The Godfather (1972), the George Washington Bridge is a suspension bridge built across Manhattan, New York and Fort Lee, New Jersey. Named after the first President of the United States, this iconic bridge above the Hudson River is also the busiest bridge in the world, carrying over 103 million vehicles per year.

Visitors looking to cross the 1,450 meters bridge can do so by walking, cycling, or using motor vehicles. However, if visitors are looking to sightsee, going by foot or cycling might be the best bet. The bridge is also home to the world’s largest free-flying American flag, which is flown on selected days such as the Independence Day, September 11 and other hallmark events and dates.
