Garrapata State Park

A slice of nature away from the city.

While many of California’s attractions may be bustling with tourists, there is a hidden gem in Big Sur that nature lovers will relish the opportunity to explore. The Garrapata State Park is a great place for hiking, especially since it is generally not crowded. Upon exploring the trails, you will be rewarded with the breathtaking Big Sur coastline, where you can even do some fishing. If the trek has left you too winded to fish, lie back and watch the whales from the Soberanes Point, best done during their winter migratory period. Don’t forget to observe the redwood groves along your trail, and spend the day admiring the wonder that is Garrapata State Park.
