A historic site believed to be where Jesus prayed and his disciples slept the night before his crucifixion.
Today, the Garden of Gethsemane is an urban garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives located in Jerusalem, Israel. It is of much religious significance as Christians believe it to be the place where Jesus prayed and his disciples had slept the night before his crucifixion (this is the site where the agony in the garden occurred). This garden has since become a significant place for Christian pilgrims. In fact, an interesting scientific study done by the National Research Council of Italy in 2012 surfaced that the olive trees in the garden were found to be the oldest known to science. Dates stretching back to 1092, 1166 and 1198 AD were obtained through carbon dating technologies, which stand as testament to the historical significance the garden must certainly hold. If you’ve always wanted to visit a Biblical site, then this is one place you cannot miss out on.
