Galleria Borghese (Borghese Gallery)

Though spoilt for choice with the abundant great museums in Rome, this is one not to be missed.

An art gallery in Rome, Galleria Borghese consists of twenty rooms across two floors and is known to hold one of the best art collections in the world. The interior is a feast for the eyes, including its pink marble walls. Soak up the exquisite beauty of the main room, which is filled from floor to ceiling with art, mosaics, and sculptures that originated from ancient Rome.

Admire the splendid sculpture of 'Paolina Borghese' by Canova, lying suggestively on an ivory-white marble mattress. Appreciate the floor mosaics from old Roman villas showing gladiators and their kills. Gaze at the Renaissance paintings by great artists such as Raphael and Titian. Let your breath be taken away by La Verita or Truth, an unfinished sculpture by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

Tips Before You Go
Before your visit, book your tickets and arrive at least half an hour before your allocated time slot. This gallery limits the number of visitors at once so you can relish in the masterpieces in peace, unlike the Vatican Museums with its overwhelming 30,000 visitors per day! With only 2 hours allocated to you, waste no time dwelling on one floor, be sure to head to the other floor and wrap up your visit.
