Furka Pass

The iconic setting of your car chase dreams.

If you’ve ever imagined yourself embarking on a thrilling countryside car chase worthy of James Bond, you have to visit the Furka Pass in Switzerland. Viewed from the top of the Swiss Alps, it looks like a long narrow ribbon that winds and twists its way through the mountains, a treacherous journey for any unwitting driver who goes too fast. There’s no wonder that it was immortalized by the iconic Aston Martin DB5 in the movie Goldfinger, which plied its impossible curves with ease. Today, it connects the Ursern valley of Uri with the municipality of Goms, albeit via a long and circuitous route. But no matter: the scenery you get to enjoy along the way is breathtaking, and well worth the extra miles. Never fear that it’s a trip which will demand great technical skill: it’s in fact one of the best driving roads in Switzerland, and is well-maintained enough for even the most hesitant driver. And if you don’t want to drive, a summer ride with the nostalgic Furka steam engine is a scenic, experience sure to bring you all the way back to the charm of bygone centuries. No matter how you experience it, the unforgettable turns of the Furka Pass are a life journey that will make you fall in love with this beautiful road.
