Frauenkirche, Munich
Pay your respects at Munich’s most recognizable building.
Nothing says Munich like the two domed towers of the Frauenkirche, soaring about 100m into the Bavarian sky. Also known as the Cathedral of Our Dear Lady, this monument is perhaps the most iconic one in Munich for over five centuries. Home to the infamous “devil’s footprint”, this church is the resting place of Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian, the Holy Roman Emperor of the 13th-14th centuries, and his sons. The late-Gothic styled building has many artistic treasures within its walls, such as 14th century choir windows and 18th century artist Ignaz Gunther’s illustration of the Virgin Mary’s story. No visit to Munich can be complete without visiting this holy icon.
