Dubrovnik, Croatia
Franciscan Monastery Museum

Akin to seeing a Croatian history book come to life.

It is debatable whether religion and art can work together hand in hand. The Muzej Franjevackog Samostana, or Franciscan Monastery Museum, is a strong case for the affirmative.

Owned by the friars, the museum displays some fascinating works of art, as well as artifacts from a time well past. You may witness the beautifully embroidered friars' cloaks here, made painstakingly by hand. Bibliophiles will relish the opportunity to view medieval manuscripts, and read from old bibles. You can even peruse sheet music written in the 15th century! Head on down to Placa 2 in Dubrovnik for a lesson in the arts that you are not likely to forget.
