Located on the 4.5km2 minuscule island of Lopud, the Franciscan Monastery is a lovely monument to visit. This 15th-century monastery can be accessed from the nearby Dubrovnik by boat. The monastic church of St. Mary of Spilica is not just a place to go to for holy worship.

Having the works of artists such as Pietro di Giovanni and Nikola Božidarević in the premises, the church is truly a sight to behold. St Blaise, the patron saint of Dubrovnik, makes an appearance in Božidarević’s artwork by the altar. Make your way to the monastery to pay your respects to this sacred spot, and to its beauty.
