Fort Denison

What used to be a defence facility, is now a hot spot for wedding receptions.

Fort Denison was initially built as a fortress acting as a defence facility, but today it stands as a popular tourist attraction and a hot spot for wedding receptions, due to its stunning atmosphere and scenery. For history buffs, opt to take a guided tour that will give you the chance to explore Australia’s only Martello Tower; the canons gun power store and the Fort Denison museum. There is also a fully operational tide gauge room, which provides readings that are published on the island’s weather facility. In addition, there is a customary firing of the canon at 1pm daily, which was previously used for sailors to adjust their time accordingly. When you have completed your exploration for the day, head over to the café for a delicious lunch with a tranquil waterfront atmosphere.
