This is the historic site of President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.

The Ford’s Theatre is located in Washington DC and is known to be the site of President Lincoln’s assassination. On April 15, 1865, the President died at Petersen House which is located just across the street. The theatre has since undergone several renovations and refurbishment processes and today stands as a regional theatre to commemorate Abraham Lincoln. A related Centre for Education and Leadership museum was opened next to Petersen House in February 2012. Together, the theatre and the house are preserved together as Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site and come under the administration of the National Park Service. The theatre today sits 665 patrons and its grand opening in 2009 featured remarks from distinguished personnel including then President Barack Obama and Jeffrey Wright.
