Flørli 4444

Hike up the world’s longest flight of wooden steps for a marvellous view of Lysefjord.

The 4,444 wooden steps that line the mountainside pose a challenging adventure and the promise of a spectacular reward when you reach the top. They are the longest flight of wooden steps in the world, following water pipelines and rails which were once used to ferry building materials and workers up the mountain. Along the way, you can enjoy being surrounded by peace, with nothing but trees and moss-covered rocks all around.

When you reach the top, a stunning view of the Flørli landscape opens up like a map before your eyes. High above the treeline, you’ll be able to see for miles around, getting a birds’ eye view of the Lysefjord, rivers and small towns. In the distance, the massive Preisketolen cliff looms before your eyes.

Tips Before You Go
Don’t go back the way you came – walking down the steep steps is dangerous both to yourself and to other hikers. Instead, take one of the round trails down the mountain, enjoying the landscape as you make your way down the valley.
