Flinders Street Railway Station

More than just a railway station to the people of Melbourne.

When in Melbourne, if you happen to hear a local saying "I'll meet you under the clocks" and get a little baffled, this should help clear things up. These clocks refer to the row of clocks above the entrance of the Flinders Street Railway Station.

Functioning since 1909, it is Australia's oldest train station. With its yellow exterior and distinct green dome, this place has become such an important part of the lives of locals here that it has been listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. In fact, in the earlier part of the 20th century, the station had a ballroom, a hat store, and even a childcare center. Head down to this iconic station and experience an integral part of Melbourne's culture.
