Flåm Railway Museum

For a peak into the railway history of Norway!

If you happen to be in Norway, come down to the Flam Railway Museum anytime throughout the year to find out more about the Flam Railway, one of Europe’s steepest railway lines and a prime example of Norwegian world-class engineering. The railway spans over 20 kilometres long and has over the years become one of Norway’s most famous tourist attractions due to its picturesque landscapes the train takes visitors through.

The museum provides you insight into the construction of the railway, including the technical challenges the builders and planners faced during the process, and the wonderful people behind the impressive engineering works. You can find on display an authentic El 9 locomotive, an old electric shunting engine and rail inspection trolleys at the musuem. Various exhibitions with texts, images and artefacts are also available for you to view. You can also experience a trip on the railway through a short video. Before you leave, drop by the gift shop to pick up a little souvenir to remind you of your visit too!
