Finnish National Gallery

Watch how art forms have developed as you travel through different decades of art in the trio of museums before you.

3 different museums, each with their very own personality, melding together to form the Finnish National Gallery. What more could one ask for? A collection of stunning art in three different museums, from Ateneum, Sinebrychoff Art Collection and to Kiasma, this national gallery boasts a luxurious collection of stunning art pieces.

With artworks by local artists, head over to the Ateneum and look out for Albert Edelfelt’s pieces, a popular Realist painter of his time. With many paintings of beautiful people, he has presented his subject matter in the most authentic way possible. Hugo Simberg’s famous “The Wounded Angel” painting is also found here, a stunning presentation of the symbolist painter. As if local art pieces were not enough, the Sinebrychoff Art Collection adds to this buffet spread. Old European art can be found here, ranging from glassware. Porcelain, classical portraits and antique furniture. The art collection largely functions to be a safe space for the display of classic European art and objects. “Finnish” off your buffet of art with Kiasma, a beautiful contrast to the older art pieces found in the other two. Kiasma is home to stunning modern pieces! Going through the Finnish National Gallery is very much like travelling through time, with pieces documenting almost every time period. A spectacular experience that is sure to appeal to art aficionados or not!
