Fine Arts Museum, Hanoi

Telling tales of Hanoi through fine art.

Culture vultures visiting Hanoi should definitely stop by the Fine Arts Museum. Originally built in the 1930’s as a girls school, the building was rebranded as the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in 1966. Not only does this museum display timeless pieces of art, it conducts research on multiple aspects of fine art as well, including that of restoration. The artworks here range from many historical periods, from pre-historic times to feudalism, and help in documenting the history of this great nation. However, much of the older artwork displayed here are actually replicas, as many of the originals were damaged during the Vietnam War. Nevertheless, the pieces here tell you a story of the life of the people during those times, making the Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi worth a stop.
