Fin-de-Siècle Museum

A new museum in Brussels dedicated to the arts, specifically those from 1868 to 1914.

The Fin-de-Siecle Museum, otherwise known as the Museum of the Turn of the Century, is a museum situated in Brussels, Belgium. It is built to house displays reflecting arts and crafts between 1868, when the Society of Fine Arts was first founded in Brussels, and 1914, when WWI first started. Essentially, art pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries. It remains as one of the museums under the Royal Museums of Fine Art of Belgium and is one of the newest, having opened its doors only in 2013. Be sure to be treated to a wide array of art works, ranging from artists like James Ensor to Leon Spilliaert. The museum also has works from areas such as literature, music and photography. Another attraction within the museum is the Gillion-Crowet gallery which features a collection of Art Nouveau furniture, donated by the Gillion-Crowet family in 2006.


Those of you who have been to other museums under the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium might think it pointless to come visit the Fin-de-Siecle Museum when some of the works displayed are borrowed from these other museums. Nonetheless, it is still worth a visit as the updated presentation facilitates in a more detailed and smoother transmission of information from the masterpieces to the visitors.


With the opening of the Fin-de-Siecle Museum, in addition to the Magritte Museum, this further cements Brussels as the top destination for all the art lovers out there.
