Ferry Building

A historic piece of San Francisco that is completely on trend today.

The meeting point of food, transport and work in San Francisco’s Bay area is none other than its Ferry Building. Established since 1898, this was the spot where most passengers would have to pass through, up until the 1930s. The rise in popularity of road transport resulted in less use of the Ferry Building and by 1955, much of the original building was re-constructed into office space. After further renovation, the building was re-opened yet again in 2003, this time, with a larger focus on food. On certain days the rear plaza hosts a farmer’s market, selling fare from some of San Francisco’s top chefs and farmers. Don’t miss out on this fascinating spot, buzzing with life, representative of Californian life from the past and present.
