Birrarung Marr, Melbourne’s new parkland near the Yarra River, is home to one of the most unique installations you can find. The Federation Bells, erected in 2002 to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of Australia's Federation, consists of 39 upturned bells of varying sizes.

Placed upon poles, the opening of the bells face the sky, with bell number 1 being the largest and of the lowest pitch, to bell number 39 being the smallest and highest pitch. When creating the bells, the designers combined European and Asian styles, so as to reflect Australia's identity where these cultures co-exist in harmony. For an extra treat, visit the bells at night, and watch them glow a bright orange while they play their beautiful tunes.
