One for all, and all for one.
Home to the Swiss Parliament, the Federal Palace of Switzerland rises regally above the surrounding landscape of the capital city of Switzerland, Bern. Comprising a central, dome-shaped assembly building and 2 wings (Eastern and Western) housing government departments and a library, this impressive architectural work of art houses the Swiss Federal Assembly (legislature) and the Federal Council (executive), which convene for regular sessions 4 times a year.
Complete with golden ribbing and a turquoise patina, the Federal Palace is resplendent in its grandeur. The Parliament Square displays the Latin motto “Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno” (One for all, and all for one) at its mosaic centre, and serves as a popular gathering spot for all visitors – local or foreign. Visitors are highly recommended to book ahead for free guided tours around the building’s beautifully designed interior, which provide interesting insight on the history behind the Federal Palace, and of Switzerland.
